Pressed Roots, billed as Plano’s first silk blowout bar, will open this Friday at 5700 Legacy Drive Suite A4 in the Shops at Legacy
Founder Piersten Gaines opened the first Pressed Root in Dallas two years ago. She was motivated to do so after years of trying to find a reliable stylist that was formally trained in caring for natural, textured hair. The business is her vision of reimaging the traditional salon experience by creating an inclusive community while also challenging the broader beauty and hair care industries that have excluded ethnic hair textures for decades.
According to her, the new Plano location was inspired by qualities of the Pressed Roots Community: Strong, Natural and Feminine. An array of pale shades of pink and brown, rounded edges, and natural materials such as pampas grass and wood contribute to the chic and calming atmosphere.
Services that will be available in Plano include Pressed Roots’ signature silk blowout in a variety of different styles including silky straight, loose curls or beach waves. The salon will also offer a mini press for girls under 8, as well as add-on services like trims, detoxifying treatments, extensions, deep conditioning treatments and more. There will also be VIP stations to provide a private experience as well as earlier appointments to accommodate clients’ busy schedules.
