The speed limit along the north end of Preston Road has been decreased after a TxDOT study, with the new speed limit at 45 mph.

If you’re driving along the north end of Preston Road, you might notice that the speed limit has been reduced from 55 mph to 45 mph.

The change comes after an engineering study by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in which the department recommended reducing the speed from 55 mph to 45 mph approximately 1,2000 feet north of Legacy Drive to its intersection with State Highway 121.

The City of Plano engineering staff agreed with the recommendation, and City Council approved and passed the ordinance to decrease the speed limit.

“This change is in line with the Plano Police Department’s mission to maintain a safe environment that contributes to the quality of life,” Plano PD said in an Instagram post. “Please help us get word out about the new speed limit of 45 mph along Preston Rd between Legacy Drive and SH 121.”

The new speed limit is active now, with pictures of the new signs posted this week on Plano PD socials.
