Plano's dining scene is continuously growing, with a few closings and lots of openings to start off the new year with new bites.

As we creep further into the new year, Plano’s dining scene is changing, with new restaurants cropping up left and right and some beloved favs closing their doors.

Daq’s permanently closed at the end of December. The owners of the daiquiri and margarita-joint was open on Preston Road for three years prior to closing.

“Anyone in the business knows owning a restaurant is a full-time commitment,” Dominque and Cory Jones wrote on their website. “Our daughter is about to be a senior and we would like to cherish more unhurried moments with her, focus on our marriage ministry and core business for now.”

The Starbucks on West Parker Road temporarily closed in December for renovations set to complete on March 2, according to a project filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Sangria Y Cerveza is open now at 6149 Windhaven Parkway, Ste. 140. The tacos and tapas lounge serves tacos, Tex-Mex favorites and unique “Mexiterranean” finds with tortilla pizzas. The lounge also serves beer, wine and frozen cocktails.

Nearby, The Bloom Lounge opened earlier this month with Rum Cakes Factory owner Jorge Saab at 6145 Windhaven  Parkway Ste. 120. The restaurant serves up a full breakfast/brunch menu, salads and dinner specialties like a Gorgonzola sirloin, Teriyaki salmon and Argentinian BBQ.

Flower Child opens its Plano location on Jan. 30 with a partnership with The Autism Community in Action by donating 10% of sales on opening day to the organization. The restaurant serves salads, bowls, entrees, wraps, signature lemonades and kombucha on tap, wine, seasonal sangrias and local craft beer. Flower Child Plano is located at 2101 Preston Road.

Voodoo Brewing Co. is set to open in Plano in the first quarter of the year. The family-friendly pub features pub food, craft beer and craft cocktails and will be located at 1001 14th St, Ste. 500.

ShangHai Taste, a Las Vegas crowd favorite for Chinese food, is expanding to Plano in early April 2024 at the intersection of Legacy Drive and U.S. 75, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.
