Revamped Studio Movie Grill Reopens in Plano

Remember when we told y’all back in August that the original Studio Movie Grill location in Plano was going to be temporarily closed and completely renovated? I think we can all admit the dine-in theater chain’s original location was long overdue for some love. Well, the renovations are done and Plano’s Studio Movie Grill reopens this Thursday, just in time to see “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” on the big screen (or “Sisters” with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, for those who aren’t quite feeling the force).

As promised, the completely renovated Plano location has done it up really big this time. The place was pretty much gutted and redesigned to the most modern standards. Now the movie house boasts four additional screens, bringing the total to 12. The menu has been updated to include over 100 items, with fresher, more diverse options, like Farm-to-Table Crudité or Tempura Battered Green Beans with Creole dipping sauce.

But here’s the best, best, best part: every moviegoer gets his or her own luxury leather Inorca® recliner with his or her very own dining tray. No more table sharing with complete strangers! And the recliners are arranged stadium-seating style, so the servers’ heads don’t get in the way of your movie. Man, it’s gonna be so great.

Guests will also notice the changes outside the movie screen as well. For starters, the building’s exterior is now a bright, cheery blue. A modern entrance area greets guests. The huge bar and lounge in the lobby says, “Hi, won’t you enjoy a drink before your movie?” with a full menu of cocktails, wine, craft beers and over 60 premium spirits.

Since Studio Movie Grill’s grand reopening coincides with the release of the biggest movie to come out since, oh, I don’t know, maybe EVER, SMG Plano will celebrate with a special themed menu in honor of Star Wars. Until January 3, all shows before 2pm will offer brunch items like Princess Leia Buns and the Obi-Wan Pancake Light Saber. Thirsty guests can enjoy a Death Star Bloody Mary or a Yoda-Rita. Studio Movie Grill wants to make sure that all Star Wars geeks fans fully experience the movie in all its glory. (Will someone please Instagram the light-saber pancakes, PLEASE?!)
