Made in Plano: The Amazing Dip Company

Since February 2017, Marcus Wentrcek has been creating gourmet dips under the name The Amazing Dip Company. The dips are made right here in Plano at The Craft Kitchen using the finest cheeses from Wisconsin and the best produce from Texas. We have tried these dips, and trust us, they are truly amazing.

Marcus, what gave you the idea to start the Amazing Dip Company?

I made the original smoked gouda dip for a wedding party in 2016. Everyone in the group loved the dip and within an hour it was gone. I knew after that I had something amazing. I made the smoked gouda dip for friends and family all the time. They all finally convinced me to start a company and sell it to the masses. Thus, came Cameron’s Smoked Gouda Cheese Dip. I named it after my 5-year-old son.

What products do you currently offer?

The Smoked Gouda Cheese Dip in Original, Garlic, Hatch or Spicy, and the Fontina Cheese Dip in Garlic & Herb or Green Goddess. They are $10 each for a 12-oz. container.

What makes your product different than other dips?

Our dips are ready-to-eat using the finest cheeses from Wisconsin and produce from Texas.  Every dip is low-carb, gluten-free and sugar-free (perfect for Keto diets). Even though most people start eating our dips with crackers, many develop the desire to cook with the dips. From mac & cheese to twice-baked potatoes to bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers, there is no limit to the imaginative ways to use our gourmet dips.

Any doubts about starting your own business?

I have always been an entrepreneur so starting a business didn’t scare me. Quitting a full-time job with benefits to sell cheese dips at farmers markets did. Luckily with help from family and my wonderful girlfriend, Heather, the company continues to grow.

What is your favorite part of owning your own business?

Seeing people’s reaction when they find that flavor of dip that makes them go “OMG!” That’s a customer for life.

What are your future goals for Amazing Dip Company?

The goal is to get our dips into grocery stores across the county.

Do you have any other locally businesses you’d recommend in Plano?

We have a great relationship with B&B Furniture Consignment off Independence which carries our full line of dips and crackers. They not only carry furniture and accessories but also our amazing dips. It is a one stop for customers to buy a house warming gift or a new furniture set.

Where can readers find your products?

We are around town at several local farmers markets. There are also three locations in Plano and Dallas that carry our items in their stores:

We also offer online ordering.
