Plano senior living facility brings in renowned chef

Chef Tre Wilcox has been on cooking shows and nominated for James Beard awards. Now, he's creating menus for senior living communities.

The Outlook at Windhaven, a newly opened West Plano senior living community, recently announced a partnership with renowned chef Tre Wilcox, who will come in as culinary advisor.

Wilcox’s accolades are many. He’s been on Iron Chef America and Top Chef, been nominated for James Beard awards multiple times and honored with publication reviews at Dallas Asian-fusion restaurant Abacus, which closed in 2019.

At The Outlook, Wilcox will work with Thomas Cuisine to craft menus for the residents of the community.

“Working with The Outlook at Windhaven is a unique opportunity to bring high-quality, well-crafted meals to residents,” Wilcox said in a news release. “Over the years, I’ve built my career on hard work and mentorship, and I take pride in using that experience not only to design thoughtful menus but also to guide and mentor others in the kitchen.”

The Outlook, which opened last fall, is a nonprofit retirement community for active adults aged 62 or older. The community, located in the former Haggard Farms space, offers independent living, assisted living, short-stay rehab services, skilled nursing and certified memory care services.
