1. Experience the April Art: Five Senses Exhibit (All Ages)
There’s still time to be part of Plano Public Library’s April Art: Five Senses series! These hands-on art sessions invite families to explore creativity through the five senses while contributing to a collaborative community mural.
April Art: Five Senses – Scent & Memory
Friday, April 3 | 3 pm | Haggard Library
Explore how scent can spark creativity and memories in this unique art experience. Participants will smell a variety of scents and create drawings inspired by the memories or feelings each one brings to mind. Create one piece or several as you contribute to a collaborative community mural.
April Art: Five Senses – Listen & Doodle
Saturday, April 4 | 3 pm | Parr Library
Discover how sound can inspire art in this creative, music-filled session. Participants will listen to instrumental music and environmental sounds and draw the scenes, memories, or emotions the sounds bring to mind. You’ll also have the chance to explore rhythm and creativity by making a simple musical instrument and designing your own album cover inspired by different music styles. All creations will contribute to our collaborative community mural celebrating the five senses.
Stop by to celebrate the art created by our community, join art activities and see the finished artwork for this one-day exhibit!

4. See the Bur Oak Artist Challenge Exhibit (All Ages)
In 2023, Plano’s historic Bur Oak tree, believed to be more than 400 years old, fell after heavy rainfall. Rather than let its story end there, the City of Plano invited North Texas artists and woodworkers to create sculptures using salvaged wood from the tree. In partnership with Plano Parks and Recreation, Plano Public Library is proud to showcase these unique pieces as they travel between library locations. This traveling exhibit connects art, local history and sustainability, offering visitors a chance to experience how a beloved Plano landmark has been transformed into something new.

In April, participants will experiment with viscosity art, exploring how liquids of different thicknesses interact to create colorful patterns and one-of-a-kind designs.
