Garage Arts Project, the ArtCentre of Plano, Plano Public Libraries and Collin College are coming together now through the end of July for a multidisciplinary community art project called Fragments of Us.
The project aims to collect stories and sentimental objects related to broken relationships, culminating in October with an exhibition and theatre performances at Collin College and the Bridges Festival in Plano.
“We all have stories of relationships that changed us—some whole, some broken, all meaningful. Through the Fragments of Us project, we honor these untold stories, giving them space to be seen, heard, and understood,” said Garage Arts Project President Renuka Rajagopalan. “We invite you to share your piece of the past, add your voice, memories, and experiences to this collective journey. Your story matters.”
Community members are invited to bring photos, poems, memories or other objects that symbolize relationships that changed, ended or otherwise left their mark to the ArtCentre of Plano until July 31. These stories and mementos will be transformed into music, dance and theatre performances.
“The ArtCentre of Plano is pleased to be working with Garage Arts Project on Fragments of Us,” said Suzy Jones, executive director of the ArtCentre of Plano. “This exciting collaboration will bring our community together through the sharing of significant life-altering objects that will result in the creation of important works of art.”
Theatre performances at Collin College will run from October 8 to 12 in the Black Box Theatre, followed by an exhibition of selected artifacts and art pieces curated by the ArtCentre from October 8 to 29 in the Art Gallery at Collin College.
