Up, up and away! This year marks 40 years of ballooning at the InTouch Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival, September 20-22 at Plano’s Oak Point Park.

This annual weekend event offers something for everyone, including live music and entertainment, a parachute team exhibition, kids’ fun zone, tons of food, merchandise and handmade products, and of course, more than 40 incredible hot air balloons.

The balloons will launch Friday at 6:00 pm, Saturday at 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, and Sunday at 7:00 am and 6:00 pm (weather permitting). In the case that the balloons cannot take off, they will still inflate and glow, truly a sight to behold.

In celebration of the 40th celebration, several special activities have been planned, including a fireworks show on Friday and Saturday night presented by Bimbo Bakeries USA. There will also be a vintage t-shirt contest each day of the festival, so any attendee wearing a Plano Balloon Festival shirt from any previous year will be eligible to compete on stage and win a 40th birthday shirt.

The Outdoor Painters Society will host a Balloon Fest Paint-Out as they masterfully paint nocturnal scenes reflecting the glowing balloons. Additionally, many of the original festival leaders from the very first festival will be on-site in honor of the celebration.

Bring your friends and family to enjoy the colorful balloons that will fill the Plano skies. Tickets are available for purchase here. Day tickets are $10, weekend tickets are $20, and kids ages 3-12 and seniors 65 and up are only $5.

The festival is open from 4-10pm on Friday, 6am-10pm on Saturday and 6am-7pm on Sunday.
