From preschool to professional, Plano Public Library (PPL) has something for everyone. Take a look at PPL’s free programs – offered both in-person and virtually – for all your educating and entertaining needs:

  1. Learn Filmmaking, Business & Career Skills This Summer (Teens)

Teens can build creative skills, explore future careers and bring big ideas to life this summer at Plano Public Library. From filmmaking and entrepreneurship to hands-on financial literacy and career exploration, these multi-day programs help teens gain real-world experience while having fun and connecting with peers.

Career Quest (Grades 9-12)

June 3–5 | 1 -4 pm | Harrington Library

Through interactive activities and a fun, hands-on game, you’ll discover the impact of career choices on earning power and budgeting skills. This is a three-part series on the following days: June 3-5. Please only register if you can attend all three sessions.

Teens Write Now (Grades 6-12)

June 9, 16, 23 & 30 | 2 – 4pm | Davis Library

Explore creative writing with teen writers and expert presenters! Unleash creativity, discover resources and get feedback. Complete a project by the series’ end. This is a four-week program series on Tuesdays from June 9th to June 30th.

Youth Entrepreneurship Academy (Grades 9-12)
June 9–11 | 1 – 4 pm | Harrington Library

Attendees will be assigned to groups, create a business idea, write a business plan and pitch to a panel of business professionals. Please only register if you can attend all three sessions: June 9, June 10, and June 11. 

Movie Maker Camp (Grades 6-12)
June 15–19 | 2 – 5 pm | Haggard Library

Join us for a 5-day camp to master the art of movie magic using DaVinci Resolve. Learn the principles of filming, acting, screenwriting, editing, and green screen usage. Please only register if you can attend all 5 sessions, June 15-19.

Leadership and Career: Bring Your Best Self (Grades 9-12)
Friday, June 19 | 2 pm | Davis Library

College students from UT Dallas share how to craft your elevator speech, how to navigate small talk to invite further conversation, and help you practice!

2. Discover Big Summer Adventures (Families) 

This summer, the Plano Library Friends are helping bring exciting educational entertainment to libraries across Plano. From juggling and physics to dinosaurs and live animals, these interactive programs combine learning and fun for curious minds of all ages.

Ready, Set, Throw
Monday, June 8 | 3 pm | Harrington Library

Join us for an exciting show featuring multiple different juggling feats and comedy, along with a lesson in physics!  

Dino Bo: Jurassic Park vs. Reality
Monday, June 15 | 3 pm | Parr Library

Dive into Jurassic Park & Jurassic World to compare what you see on screen versus what science actually says about dinosaurs. 

All About Animals: Dig Into the Wild
Monday, June 22 | 3 pm | Schimelpfenig Library

Come face-to-face with live animals that reveal the wild connections between dinosaurs and today’s amazing species.

3. Learn Life-Saving Skills & Plano Community Resources

Plano Public Library is partnering with City of Plano departments through programs designed to help residents feel more confident, prepared and informed.

4. Build Your Business with Spanish-Language Programs (Spanish Speakers)

Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs can connect with free resources and expert guidance at Plano Public Library this June. Learn how to legally establish and manage a business, understand tax and LLC requirements, and connect one-on-one with experienced SCORE mentors for practical small business support.

5. Summer Reading: Go For the Goal! (All Ages)

Make reading part of your summer adventure with Plano Public Library’s Summer Reading Program! From May 30 through July 31, readers of all ages can track their progress, earn prizes and explore stories in every format—from books and audiobooks to graphic novels and eBooks.

Summer Reading Goals
Ages 0–16: Read 1,000 minutes
Ages 16+: Read 5 books

Summer Reading runs May 30–July 31. Sign up online and start logging your reading all summer long!

If you do not already have a Plano Public Library card, be sure to register online here. All Plano Public Library locations are open to use computers, browse the collection, and attend in-person programs. Porchside pickup for holds is available, and you can always access eLibrary content online.
