Everything is bigger in Texas, and barbecue and ribs are no exception. Kenny’s Burger Joint is pushing the limits on the Lone Star favorite with a new rib-eating challenge to be held every Tuesday starting this week.
Yesterday kicked off the first of this series. Four diners came to compete and 18-year-old Jacob Wood was crowned the first to complete the challenge: 30 ribs in 30 minutes. His prize? A $100 gift card and a t-shirt. And some sort of glory, I’m sure. As the series continues, Wood and other winners are welcome to continue to eat to advance their spot on the leaderboard.
Those who do not finish the challenge and earn their spot on the board are charged $75 for the ribs. Diners not participating can by ribs by-the-bone for $2.50 each on competition Tuesdays.
Those aiming to join Wood on the leaderboard can do so at the Frisco or Plano locations by calling and reserving a spot in advance any day of the week with a 7-day notice, the restaurant said.
The rib-eating challenge is not the only food competition Kenny’s Burger Joint has to offer. Other challenges include attempting to eat the El Jefe Grande (a 7-pound 7,000 7,000-calorie burger) and the Bada Bing Challenge where two people try to eat a 36″ pepperoni pizza in under an hour.
Kenny’s Burger Joint’s Plano location is at 5809 Preston Road.
