The ArtCentre of Plano is hosting an open house Saturday, June 19 where the summer’s featured artist, sculptor Jerry Dodd, will be present to discuss his pieces. The H.E.B/ Central Market Sculpture Garden Exhibition includes Dodd’s collages, wall hangings, digital prints and free standing sculptures.

Dodd is originally from Commerce and taught at universities in New York and Texas. He received a bachelor of science in art from Central Michigan University and a master of fine arts at the University of Oregon. He taught for 40 years before retiring from Texas A&M University in Commerce in 2006. Dodd now focuses on welded steel sculptures and digital prints.

Art runs in the family. His father was an amateur landscape painter, and Dodd says art has been his interest since childhood. He plans to make sculptures for as long as physically possible.

The event is being held at 902 E. 16th St., Plano, TX 75024 on Saturday June 19 from 2 pm to 4 pm. There is no cost to get in.

The exhibition, “Inside and Out,” runs through August 7.
